2008 Van Ruiten Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

Our Cabernet Sauvignon is hand-picked from John’s home ranch. These vines come from clone 337, which produces very small berries. The small berries produce a wine rich in color and tannin. 

Inky black hue color of this sumptuous Cabernet gives way to expressive aromas of black cherry, cassis, and allspice. Aging in French oak barrels softens the otherwise firm tannins and introduces hints of vanilla and cedar on the palate. Luscious currants and pepper flavors are refined and balanced by a lingering finish. For all those who complain that Cab isn’t food-friendly, this one is. Ageability is almost guaranteed. Best now through 2020, with proper cellaring.

2009 Glory Days Old Vine Zinfandel

In Lodi, our old-head trained Zinfandel vines develop unusually firm structure. The 99 year old Carignane was an elegant, vibrant addition to this Zin along with the small amount of Petite Sirah. The wine has a dark, rich color and plenty of minerality, loads of bright and savory raspberry and black currant fruit, with hints of pepper and crushed rocks. This wine pushes the envelope of sheer decadence with an expressive fragrance of briary berries, pepper, and spice.

2009 Van Ruiten Family Vineyards Petite Sirah

Today’s wine drinkers have discovered the distinct characteristics of this varietal; dark hues, exotic aromas of allspice, plums, and green tea, with flavors of black cherries and ripe plums. Exhibiting generous tannins and a lengthy finish, this Petite Sirah should benefit from several years of aging.

2009 Winsome Cabernet Sauvignon

Winsome 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is styled to emphasize rich varietal character and body in a classic California style. The fragrant Cabernet aromas of cassis and black fruit are underscored by discreet notes of vanilla, all spice and coffee, and carry into ripe, intense berry fruit flavors on the palate. The structure is firm and well balanced, with excellent depth and supple, generous tannins. These impressions are confirmed on the finish, which is long and marked by complex notes of dark fruit and oak. Great age worthy potential, drink now or age through 2019 with proper cellaring. 

2009 Winsome MerlotOur Winsome Merlot was hand-harvested from the lush farmlands of the Lodi Appellation. Rich flavors of plum and blackberry are complemented by notes of allspice, nutmeg, and cocoa. This wine is worthy of cellaring for 4-6 years, but is wonderful today with Lamb and Veal.

Our Winsome Merlot was hand-harvested from the lush farmlands of the Lodi Appellation. Rich flavors of plum and blackberry are complemented by notes of allspice, nutmeg, and cocoa. This wine is worthy of cellaring for 4-6 years, but is wonderful today with Lamb and Veal.

NEWEST RELEASE-The practice of blending more than one variety of wine has been practiced in Europe for centuries and is the basis for our Cab-Shiraz. This full-bodied, yet very approachable blend is loaded with flavors of blackberries, cherries, currants, and plums; with a lengthy finish and just a hint of oak.

 SOLD OUT Our 2007 Explozin Ancient Vine Zinfandel hails from a 98 year old head trained vineyard. Only 250 cases were produced from this sixteen acre vineyard. If you’re big into Zin! This is a classic, boldly styled Zinfandel and is not for the faint of heart. Big and chewy, a concentrated ancient vine character. Ripe, delicious and exuberant; rich with layers of wild cherry, blackberry, and vanilla shaded by anise seeds. Finishes with a fantastic explosion of fruit and ripe, integrated tannin.

The grapes for this wine were hand picked and sorted to allow only the best fruit to go into this wine. The Winsome Old Vine Zinfandel is packed full of cherry and blackberry; aromas of cedar and licorice with hints of pepper gives this wine decadent flavors and an expressively fragrant nose.

Aromas of black cherry with underlying notes of toasted warm coffee and cassis. A touch of cedar folds seamlessly into a rich opulent black fruit core. Layers of oak build texture and offer a firm mid-palate. The velvety long finish is filled with red fruit and currants.

Aromas of candied violets and cassis are wrapped around creamy, vanilla toast. Wonderful flavors of ripe, black cherries and rich, fleshy plums; round tannins are lush, but firm with a nice chalky texture that brings out this Merlot’s real power.
